How can a doula help me?
A doula's support is invaluable to women and their families for many different reasons. A birth doula's support might include relaxation techniques and refocusing exercises to help you get through labor while a postpartum doula's support might provide you time for a much needed nap or shower. You might find a postpartum doula or antepartum doula most helpful if you need to talk to someone who really understands what you're experiencing.
Can a doula still support me even if I have...
What about my husband/ partner?
“Over and over again women say that ‘just knowing my husband was there, just his holding my hand, was the most important thing for me - while I could trust the doula’s words and actions and let myself go, feeling safe that her experience would see us through’.” - The Doula Book
Fathers should be able to participate at any level that feels right and natural for them. The doula's role should never interfere with the desires of your partner. If your partner is concerned,we will support and reassure them as well. We am here to support you BOTH to achieve the blissful birth you desire.
I live just outside the Seattle-Tacoma area. Will Doulaville still support me?
Our birth professionals serve the Greater Seattle-Tacoma Metro Area - which means most cities and towns just outside of these larger cities, all the way from Marysville to Olympia. We don't have predetermined boundaries because every situation is different so please contact us to ask about your area.
What doesn’t a doula do?
A doula will not speak to medical staff (nurses or doctors) for you; that's something you have to do. A doula will provide you with all kinds of information though. Many times having more information can help you to make a decision. Additionally, a doula does not perform any kind of clinical procedures like taking your blood pressure, temperature or checking to see how you're dilating. A doula is there for comfort, praise and reassurance, to name a few. A doula doesn't take the place of your doctor or midwife (even if you birth at home) so you still have to get prenatal care.
I sent an email. How long before you respond?

Why are Doulaville's fees so much lower than other local doulas?
Doulaville is especially passionate about providing doula support and birth services to anyone who wants it. We believe money shouldn't prevent you from obtaining our services and adjust our fees accordingly. We also have volunteers readily available who are just as passionate about birth.
